President Appoints Inaugural Session of New Parliament

President Saakashvili officially convened first session of the newly elected Parliament for April 22. Initially the Parliamentā€™s session was scheduled for April 21.


The Parliament will elect Chairman, Vice-Speakers and Chairmen of the Parliamentary Committees at its inaugural session. It is widely expected that Nino Burjanadze will be re-elected on Parliamentary Chairpersonā€™s post.


Nino Burjanadze, Chairman of the outgoing Parliament reiterated on April 20 that situation in restive Adjarian Autonomy will also be discussed at the session. ā€œIt is [situation in Adjara] very painful issue,ā€ she told reporters.
