Abashidze: Blown up Bridges will be Restored
Speaking in live broadcast on Adjara TV late on May 4, Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze said that the Autonomy’s authorities will restore all three bridges, blown up on May 2.
“Tomorrow [on May 5] morning Tsetskhlauri bridge will be restored. By May 7 anther bridge in Kakuti will be restored. We will restore [major] bridge over Choloki river [administrative border between Adjara and the rest of Georgia],” Aslan Abashidze said.
On May 2 Abashidze’s security forces blew up three bridges linking Adjara with the rest of Georgia – an act described by the Aslan Abashidze as a self-defense and “preventive measure” against anticipated incursion of the Georgian armed forces in the region.
