Venice Commission Discusses Georgian Constitution
The Venice Commission, in co-operation with the Constitutional Court of Georgia, launched on May 18 a two-day conference on ?the Constitutional Organization of the State? in Tbilisi.
The Conference addresses the issues of distribution of powers in the light of the recent constitutional amendments in Georgia, as well as territorial organization following the restoration of Georgia?s authority in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Later today the representatives of the Venice Commission will meet with President Saakashvili.
It is anticipated that along with other issues the constitutional law on the status of Adjara will be discussed during the meeting.
The European Commission for Democracy through Law – better known as the Venice Commission – is a consultative body of the Council of Europe specializing in constitutional matters.
