Georgian PM Visits Russia

A delegation led by Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, left for Moscow on May 24 for a two-day visit.The Minister of the Interior, The Minister of Energy as well as the State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues will accompany the prime-minister.


The talks are scheduled with the Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Fradkov. It is also planned that in a meeting with the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Igor Ivanov the Georgian delegation would continue consultations that started in Tbilisi on May 18. The details of Ivanov’s May visit remain confidential, but according to Tbilisi’s official statements, they dealt with conflict resolution issues in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.


State Minister in charge of conflict resolution Goga Khaindrava confirmed that Abkhazia and South Ossetia would be on the agenda of the talks.


The Georgian delegation will also meet with the chiefs of two Russian energy companies – GazProm and United Energy Systems.
