PM Hails Trust in Russo-Georgian Relations

Visiting Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania told the Russian NTV television that trust has been increased in relations between Russia and Georgia in recent months.


On May 24 Georgian delegation, led by the Prime Minister held talks with the Secretary of Russian Security Council Igor Ivanov and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov is scheduled for May 25.


Zurab Zhvania stressed that the recent talks between the Presidents of Georgia and Russia in February ?breathed a new life in the mutual relations between Georgia and Russia.?


?There is much more mutual understanding and what is more important, much more trust between the two countries,? he added.   


Secretary of the National Security Council of Russia Igor Ivanov reiterated on May 24 after talks with Zurab Zhvania that Russia seeks ?for stable, good-neighbor relations with Georgia.”
 
Zurab Zhvania told reporters after the talks with Russian Foreign Minister that wide range of bilateral issues were discussed during the meeting, including situation in the Abkhazian and South Ossetian conflict zones.


According to the Russian Foreign Ministry the issues of economic relations were also discussed. ?Georgian side expressed interest towards Russian investments, particularly in the tourism industry of Georgia,? the press release of the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.
