Adjara’s Ex-Railway Chief Held
Former chief of the railway of Adjara’s Autonomous Republic Nugzar Varshanidze was arrested on June 16.
Varshanidze is accused of misuse of power and misappropriation of USD 230 thousand.
Varshanidze is third former official of the ex-Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze’s government arrested in recent days.
On June 13 former Chairman of the District Election Commission of Adjarian capital, Batumi, Ednar Shamilashvili, and ex-chief of the Adjara’s customs service, Tengiz Bladadze, were arrested for alleged misuse of power.
