Georgia Detains Three Russian Citizens Suspected of Spying

Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Gia Getsadze said three citizens of Russia, who are the residents of Russia?s North Ossetian Republic, neighboring with Georgia?s breakaway South Ossetia, were detained on June 24 and charged for illegal crossing the border.

Gia Getsadze said that three ethnic Ossetians were detained by the Georgian law enforcers in Java district of breakaway South Ossetia as a result of the limited security operation.

?We believe that they entered into Georgia for espionage,? Georgian Deputy Interior Minister told reporters on June 24.
