Georgian-Ossetian Talks Fail
Talks between the Georgian and Ossetian side failed after demands by the Georgian representatives to release three Georgian security officials, being detained in the breakaway repubilc, were rejected by the South Ossetia authrorities.
?The session of the Joint Control Commission [which includes Georgian, South and North Ossetian sides, as well as representatives from Russia] will be held as soon as the Ossetian side releases three employees of the Georgian Security Ministry, who were detained by the Ossetian side last week,? Georgian State Minister for conflict resolutions Giorgi Khaindrava, who will lead the Georgian delegation at the talks, told reporters on June 30.
Khaindrava said that the talks in Moscow will resume on July 1, granting that the Ossetian side releases the Georgian security officials by that time.
The sessions of the Joint Control Commission have been postponed several times already.
