Russian Foreign Minister to Visit Georgia
Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Boris Malakhov said on October 25 that Minister Sergey Lavrov plans to visit Georgia in the near future.
“The visit is being contemplated as part of a trip to be made by the Russian Foreign Minister to the South Caucasus region. However, the date of the trip will be fixed later,” Boris Malakhov told reporters on October 25.
In early October Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili said in a interview with the Russian newspaper Novie Izvestia that Sergei Lavrov is expected to visit Tbilisi in late October.
“It will be a good sign if this visit takes place. We may discuss a possible meeting between [Georgian President Mikhail] Saakashvili and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” the Minister added.
