Abkhaz PM Calls on Bagapsh, Khajimba for Talks
Prime Minister of unrecognized Abkhaz Republic Nodar Khashba called on the main presidential rivals Sergey Bagapsh, who claims victory in the October 3 presidential polls and Raul Khajimba, who demands a re-vote, ?to sit down at the negotiating table.?
?That is the only way out of the current situation,? RIA Novosti news agency quotes a statement issued by Nodar Khashba on November 14.
He said that the Abkhaz government, which fled the offices on November 12 after the opposition captured major governmental buildings, developed an anti-crisis action plan, ?which is being implemented.? However, he did not give any details of this plan.
The Prime Minister of the breakaway region denied that governmental forces opened fire on November 12, when the opposition stormed the governmental offices, as claimed by the opposition. One elderly woman died during the unrest on November 12.
?The Abkhaz government possesses documentation depicting those who were openly calling for the capture of governmental buildings and ousting the legitimate authorities,? the Abkhaz Prime Minister?s statement reads.
