Pro-Khajimba TV Launched in Abkhazia

Journalists supporting the pro-governmental presidential contender Raul Khajimba launched a new television channel, which is broadcast in five out of seven districts of breakaway Abkhazia, including the capital Sokhumi.

The state-run television, which is the only one TV channel in Abkhazia, is currently under the control of opposition presidential candidate Sergey Bagapsh.

?Creation of an alternative television became necessary in order to air the position of one of the sides; before only one side [the opposition] could express its opinion at the state television,? Raul Khajimba told RIA Novosti news agency on November 27.
