OSCE Hails Progress in South Ossetian Conflict Resolution
OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy said in his opening address to the 12th Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Sofia on December 6 that the OSCE hails the recent progress achieved between the Georgian and South Ossetian sides.
?We welcome the progress recently achieved in the dialogue on a peaceful comprehensive resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict. The measures now in hand to secure the demilitarization of the zone of conflict need to be implemented as rapidly as possible and the focus has to shift to genuine political negotiations,? Sofia News Agency quotes Solomon Passy as saying.
He said that the involvement of the Bulgarian Chairmanship in an active search for a solution to the South Ossetian conflict was reconfirmed by the designation of prominent Bulgarian statesman – former President Zhelju Zhelev – as envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Georgia.
