Tskhinvali Insists on JCC Meeting

Special Affairs Minister of the unrecognized South Ossetian Republic Boris Chochiev sent a letter to the co-chairmen of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on December 8, in which he offers to hold a meeting that would be attended by the representatives of OSCE and European Commission, as well as Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania.

?The situation remains tense in the conflict zone. The Georgian side still blocks free movement of people and freights and constantly increases the number of its servicemen in the conflict zone, despite the signed agreement on demilitarization,? Boris Chochiev, who represents the South Ossetian side in the JCC, says, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.

?In this regard, I, as a co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission, express concern over the current situation and offer to hold a JCC meeting as soon as possible,? Chochiev added.

During his visit to Moscow, President of breakaway South Ossetia Eduard Kokoev warned on December 8 that a renewal of armed confrontation in the conflict zone is anticipated, sometime ?in the next two-three weeks.?
