Bagapsh Pledges to Introduce Russian Legislation in Abkhazia
Abkhaz presidential contender Sergey Bagapsh said at a news briefing on December 16 that Russian legislation will be introduced in Abkhazia.
?We will live in accordance with the Russian legislation, that will help us solve many economic problems, including investment issues,? Abkhaz news agency Apsnypress reports Sergey Bagapsh as saying on December 16.
He added that in the event that he is elected President Abkhazia, he will establish closer ties with Russia.
Bagapsh also said, while commenting on statement by President Saakashvili that new Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili will remain at his post until Georgia?s territorial integrity is restored, that Abkhazia is ?ready for any developments and will defend our independence.?
Repeat presidential elections are scheduled in the unrecognized republic for January 12.
