Six Companies Bid for Georgian Shipping Co.
According to the Georgian Economy Ministry six foreign companies have made bids for privatizing of the Georgian Ocean Shipping Company so far.
The Georgian government extended the deadline for applying bids until January 10, 2005.
These six companies are: Schoeller Holdings Ltd, the British Aquamarine Shipping Consultants, the Australian ASP Ship Management Pty Ltd, the Greenoak Group, as well as one Turkish and one Italian company.
Deputy Economy Minister Natia Turnava told Civil Georgia on December 29 that the interested companies did not indicate the exact amount of the bids, ?except Greenoak [which offers USD 107 million] and British Aquamarine; the latter offers USD 61 million as an initial price.?
