New Georgian Peacekeeper Commander in South Ossetia

Col. Koba Lachkebiani has been appointed Commander of the Georgian peacekeeping battalion, which is part of the joint Russian-Georgian-Ossetian peacekeeping forces stationed in the South Ossetian conflict zone.
 
Chief of the General Staff Vakhtang Kapanadze said, on January 6, that commander of the Georgian peacekeepers Petre Goguadze resigned because of health problems.
 
Col. Koba Lachkebiani formerly served as Commander of the 11th Brigade of the Defense Ministry.
