Ethnic Abkhaz Becomes Georgian Government’s Spokesperson

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania announced, on January 12, that Lela Avidzba, an ethnic Abkhazian, will be appointed as the Georgian government’s spokesperson.


Lela Avidzba is a journalist and previously anchored the Abkhaz-language news program at the Georgian state television.


“Lela Avidzba will inform society about the Georgian government’s activities,” Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania said at the government’s session.


Last December, Zinaida Bestaeva, an ethnic Ossetian, was appointed Georgian State Minister for Civil Integration Issues.
