Abkhaz CEC: 40% Voter Turnout Reported by Afternoon

Chairman of the Abkhaz Central Election Commission (CEC) Batal Tabagua said at a news conference on January 12 that 40% of the eligible voters in Abkhazia had already cast their ballots in the presidential elections by 4pm local time, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

At least half of the more than 113,000 registered voters in the region must cast a ballot in order to validate the elections.
