UN Envoy, Abkhaz Foreign Minister Discussed Peace Talks

UN Secretary General?s Special Representative to Georgia Heidi Tagliavini met with Foreign Minister of breakaway Abkhazia on January 15 and discussed the resumption of peace talks between the Georgian and Abkhaz sides, Apsnipress news agency reported.

Heidi Tagliavini said that talks, in frames of Geneva process, with the participation of the UN Secretary General?s Group of Friends for Georgia, involving representatives from France, Germany, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and the United States, are scheduled for this March.

The last meeting of this kind was held last December; however neither a Georgian nor an Abkhaz delegations participated in the talks, due to the political crisis in the breakaway region.
