IFC Official Visits Georgia
Edward Nassim, the Director of Central and Eastern Europe Department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), who is paying a visit to Georgia, met with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania on January 17.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss IFC activities in the country, as well as efforts to expand its work in Georgia, the IFC press release reads.
?The environment for private sector growth improves in Georgia. While we have been actively engaged with the government of the country since the Rose Revolution, we have not had an opportunity to discuss our strategy neither with the President nor the Prime Minister,? Edward Nassim said.
IFC, which is the private sector financing arm of the World Bank Group, has invested over $100 million in finance projects in the financial, power, oil and gas and manufacturing sectors of Georgia since 1995, when the country became a shareholder and a member of IFC.
