Police Hunt for Gori Blast Suspects
On February 7 the Georgian Interior Ministry issued “identikit” pictures of two persons who were allegedly involved in a car bomb explosion in the central Georgian town of Gori on February 1, which killed three policemen and injured at least 27 other people.
Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili briefed reporters on February 7 regarding some details of the investigation of this terrorist act. He said that the car, where the explosive was detonated, was bought by an unknown person, apparently a local resident of the Shida Kartli region, early last December.
He also said that there was another person who moved the car outside the Gori police department where the blast occurred. Merabishvili said that the police are searching for these two people, who are, most likely, in their mid 30s.
