Protest against Russian bases in Batumi

On 4 March, 2005 NGO representatives, members of Kmara as well as students held the demonstration near the Russian military base. The protesters were demanding the withdrawal of the Russian bases from Georgia.

“If Georgia is an independent country and we want to protect our territories, Georgian soldiers should stand where the Russians are at present,” protesters said and calling on the people of Ajara to join the demonstration.
