Tbilisi Denies Abkhazia Navy Incident

The Georgian Border Guard Department denied reports on March 16 that the Abkhaz border patrol prevented the Georgian coast guard from detaining a Turkish fishing boat on March 15.

Defense Minister of breakaway Abkhazia Sultan Sosnaliev said the Georgian coast guard vessels retreated after the Abkhaz artillery division fired two shots. The incident took place on March 15 at 22:30 Moscow time (GMT+3), close to Eshera, a town near Abkhaz capital Sokhumi, according to Sosnaliev.
