Saakashvili Calls on EU for Coherent Policy
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in an interview with the Financial Times published on September 20, that the European Union should work out a coherent policy to help sustain the young democratic governments in Georgia and Ukraine.
Saakashvili was critical of the EU?s policy, saying that Georgia had received a lot of promises from the EU, but little had materialized.
He also criticized the EU for lacking a clear policy towards Ukraine. ?Ukraine must have a realistic promise of something,? he said.
?If Ukraine fails, it would be a total disaster for Georgia, for the wider region. It is in everyone?s interest to help them,? Saakashvili said.
