Georgian PM Comments on Resolution on Peacekeepers
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said on February 17 that the government follows the Georgian Parliamentâs resolution and hold consultations with âpartner statesâ and Russia over resolution of the South Ossetian conflict peacefully.
âWithdrawal of the Russian peacekeepers from the conflict zone is not an aim in itself for us, but their presence there is also not an aim in itself. Naturally, the Georgian government has launched this process as envisaged by the Parliamentâs resolution and we have ongoing consultations with our partner [states], as well as with Russians. I want to reiterate that for us peaceful resolution of the South Ossetian conflict and restoration of Georgiaâs territorial integrity is major goal,â PM Nogaideli said.
