Protesters Rally in Tbilisi
Hundreds of people gathered outside the Parliament on April 27 to protest against the government’s “unfair” social policies.
The rally was organized by the opposition parties – People’s Party and Georgian Troupe. Some politicians from the National Forum and Conservative Party also joined the rally later.
The protest was specifically aimed at government plans to increase gas tariffs and transportation fees and to impose a new tax scheme for residents of Tbilisi’s Old Town.
The organizers of the rally promised to hold “another large-scale protest rally” outside the Parliament on May 8.
