Saakashvili Commits Georgian Troops to Afghanistan

Georgia will contribute troops to NATO-led operations in Afghanistan, President Saakashvili said in an address to the UN General Assembly on September 26.

?Just this month we committed a new battalion to serve under French command in Kabul,? Saakashvili said.

President Saakashvili said in March that Georgia was ready to send at least 100 servicemen to Afghanistan.
