Bezhuashvili, Lavrov Discussed Bilateral Relations

The Georgian and Russian foreign ministers, Gela Bezhuashvili and Sergey Lavrov, respectively, met in New York on September 27 to discuss problems in bilateral relations.

After the talks, Lavrov told reporters that they had agreed to hold a session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) in October to finally discuss, after a long suspension, South Ossetian conflict resolution issues.

The Georgian foreign minister said that he’d had a frank conversation with his counterpart on all problematic issues existing in bilateral relations.

He laid particular stress, during the meeting, on the inadmissibility of Russian political, financial and military support for aggressive separatism in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
