Watchdog: No Major Violations Observed

Election observer organization New Generation – New Initiative (nGnI) said the election was taking place under normal and stable conditions so far.

“All violations that have taken place so far are of a technical nature and in general the electoral process is ongoing under normal and stable conditions,” Koki Ionatamishvili, head of nGnI, said at a news conference at 3pm local time. “At this point, I want to thank the CEC which has been cooperating with us and taking our views into consideration.”

He also said that high voter turnout had been observed by midday – up to 15%. According to International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), another observer organization, the figure was 13%. The CEC has yet to release figures.
