Saakashvili in Lead Nationwide, But Falls Behind in Capital
Nationwide, presidential candidate Mikheil Saakashvili is leading in the polls, but in Tbilisi, his rival, Levan Gachechiladze, has the upper hand.

Meanwhile, Levan Tarkhnishvili, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), reiterated on January 7 his contention, made yesterday, that Saakashvili would likely have about 52.8% of the vote nationwide and no run-off would be needed.
