Chief of Poti Port Resigns

Jemal Inaishvili, the chief of the port of Poti, announced his resignation on August 9. He was motivated in his decision by the recent move by the Georgian authorities to privatize the port.

β€œThe port is of strategic importance, so it cannot be sold,” Jemal Inaishvili said at a news briefing on August 9.

Earlier in June the Georgian government announced it would  push its privatization drive forward and even sell state-run enterprises, including ports and other enterprises once labeled as “strategic.”
