Saakashvili Vows Safety for Investors

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on September 9 that Georgia has achieved ?significant economic progress? within past months and called for the business to invest in the Georgian economy.

?We have entered an important stage of development. Important changes have occurred in the economy of Georgia. We have significantly increased budgetary revenues and what is most important we have increased salaries,? President Saakashvili said on September 9 while addressing the employees of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

He said, by the end of 2004 ?no one in the state-run organization will have salary less than 100 Lari [approximately USD 57].?

?I want to tell both Georgian and foreign businessmen that nobody will touch them. I call on them to invest money in Georgia and I guarantee that nobody will touch or blackmail them,? Saakashvili said.
