Ombudsman Demands Dismissal of Deputy Chairman of Supreme Court

Newly appointed Public Defender of Georgia Sozar Subeliani demanded on September 23 dismissal of the Supreme Court judge Veleri Khrustal by the Council of Justice.

According to Subeliani alleged that Valeri Khrustal, the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court to remand Zaza Tsetskhladze to pretrial detention after the latter had already been in pretrial custody for 24 months, was illegal.

Sozar Subeliani added that there are numerous other cases of illegal detentions.
