Ex-Chief of Georgian Peacekeepers Accused of Treason
Mikheil Kebadze, former commander of the Georgian peacekeeping battalion stationed in the breakaway South Ossetian conflict zone, is facing treason charges.
?He [Kebadze] is suspected of divulging secrete information, which is equal to treason. I can not say anything more regarding this case,? Deputy Security Minister Batu Kutelia told Civil Georgia on October 14.
Mikheil Kebadze was arrested on October 13. Initially he was accused of illegal possession of arms. However, Kebadze?s wife claims that the law enforcers planted a hand grenade, while searching the ex-chief?s house.
