Two Ambassadorial Candidates Nominated

The Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations has begun discussions on two new ambassadorial nominees presented by President Saakashvili for parliamentary approval.

Konstantine Gabashvili, ex-chairman of the foreign relations committee, was nominated as Georgian ambassador to Italy, Malta and San Marino, as well as Georgian representative to Rome-based UN agencies.

Roman Metreveli, former MP from the ruling party, was nominated as ambassador to Romania and Moldova.

Parliament is expected to approve the new ambassadors this week.
