Heavy Rains Flood Kobuleti in Adjara Region

Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in a number of municipalities in the Adjara region on Georgia’s Black Sea coast.

The town of Kobuleti and its surrounding villages were hit worst, according to the local government in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

Most of the streets and neighborhoods in the town of Kobuleti have been flooded, which has also prompted delays in railway traffic between Tbilisi and Batumi.

Heavy rain swelled the river Atchkva, flooding roads in at least seven villages of the Kobuleti municipality, according to the local authorities.

A strong wind ripped off roofs of several houses in the municipality.

Flooding was also reported from Keda municipality of the Adjara region, where farmlands of several families were damaged, according to the local authorities.
