Q1’16 GDP Growth 2.3% – Preliminary Data

Georgia’s economy grew by 2.3% in the first quarter of 2016, slower than the 3.3% recorded year earlier, according to preliminary data released by the state statistics office, Geostat, on Thursday.

Real GDP grew 3.4% year-on-year in March, after 0.8% and 2.6% y/y growth in January and February, respectively.

The government expects 3% economic growth in 2016.

Georgia’s economy expanded by 2.8% in 2015, the weakest growth since 2009.
