One Soldier Dead After Army Truck Overturns in Eastern Georgia
Georgian Defense Ministry’s Kamaz truck, carrying 37 service members, overturned in eastern region of Kakheti, killing one and injuring other soldiers.
Service members, who survived in the accident, have no life-threatening injuries, the Ministry of Defense said, adding that five of them “with relatively severe injuries” were hospitalized in Tbilisi and others were taken to hospitals in Dedoplistskaro and Tsnori.
The accident occurred close to the village of Bodbe in Signagi municipality late on Friday afternoon.
The truck was transporting soldiers from the military logistics unit from Dedoplistskaro in Kakheti to Osiauri in Shida Kartli region.
In a written statement, President Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed condolences over the death of the soldier in the accident and wished injured service members quick recovery.
