Georgian Defense Minister Meets Azerbaijani President

Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria, who is paying an official visit to Azerbaijan, met with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on December 16.

The sides stressed “the importance of strategic and friendly relations” between Georgia and Azerbaijan, according to the Georgian Defense Ministry.

“For us, it is very important to have Azerbaijan as a reliable neighbor. The centuries-old friendship, good neighborly relations and strategic partnership between our peoples is a guarantee for strengthening the stability in the region. I also want to underline the active dynamics in our defense cooperation, evidenced by bilateral and trilateral formats,” Levan Izoria said.

In frames of the visit, the Georgian Defense Minister will also hold talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Hasanov, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
