Six New Ambassadorial Candidates Nominated

Georgian Foreign Ministry submitted six new ambassadorial nominations to the Government of Georgia, among them candidates for diplomatic posts in Kyiv, Bucharest and Warsaw.

Ilia Darchiashvili, who most recently worked as the Deputy Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure, was nominated as the ambassador to Poland.

Nikoloz Nikolozishvili, who most recently served as Georgia’s ambassador to Poland, was named as the ambassador to Romania. Previously, Nikolozishvili held ambassadorial posts to Slovenia and Slovakia in 2006-2011 and Armenia in 1998-2004.

Davit Solomonia was nominated as the Georgian ambassador to Brazil. Previously, he served as the head of MFA’s Department for European integration.

Nikoloz Apkhazava, who until recently was Georgia’s ambassador to the Republic of Korea, was named as the ambassador to Malaysia.

Giorgi Dolidze, head of MFA’s Department for Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration since 2011, is set to take the ambassadorial post to Australia.

Gela Dumbadze, who was the State Minister for Diaspora Issues in 2014-2016, was named as the ambassador to Ukraine.

The candidates will now be submitted to the President of Georgia for approval.
