“Putin’s Enemies Bomb Georgia” – Shevardnadze Says
“I am shocked,” said Georgian President Shevardnadze, commenting on today’s air strikes on Georgian villages in Abkhazia’s Kodori gorge. Shevardnadze claimed that the facts of air attacks did not correspond to the spirit of his conversation with President Putin which took place yesterday.
“We had a constructive dialogue” said Shevardnadze. “Air strikes are in interests of President Putin’s enemies in Russia” he added.
Announcements came as news broke today on helicopter raids in Kodori gorge’s Marukhi pass that reportedly caused civilian casualties. Two jet-fighters Su-25 “Frogfoot” also violated Georgian airspace, Georgian Defense Ministry reported.
