Security Minister Says Links are Between Sajaia’s Death and Russia

(Tbilisi, February 26, Civil Georgia) – “There is a direct link between forces in Russia and death of Nugzar Sajaia [Georgian National Security Council Secretary],” Georgian State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania stated commenting suicide of Nugzar Sajaia.

He said that it is not necessary to be a special service. These are special service-type organizations.

The Minister stated that well-planned defamation campaign against Sajaia aimed destabilization of situation in Georgia and was directed against Shevardnadze’s government.

“Those forces aim to get the key posts in the government. Nugzar Sajaia had a great influence on the authorities,” Valeri Khaburdzania stated.

Recently MP Boris Kakubava accused Nugzar Sajaia in an attempt at assassination of Aslan Abashidze Head of the Adjara Autonomous Republic. The suicide is thought to be related to the accusation.
