USA Made the Most of All for Georgia’s Independence – Shevardnadze Says

(Tbilisi, March 4, Civil Georgia) – “The United States made most of all to secure Georgia’s independence and no one should be surprised that Georgia cooperates with the USA so closely,” President Eduard Shevardnadze stated in his radiobroadcast on March 4.

“Our cooperation with the United States does not mean turn back on Russia. But it must be mentioned that Russia made little to assist Georgia,” Shevardnadze said.

Georgian President gave an example of withdrawing military hardware from Georgia by Russians. “They [Russians] left in Georgia only the useless military hardware, such a situation was not in none of the former Soviet countries,” Shevardnadze stated.
