Zhvania’s Team in Christian Conservative Party
(Tbilisi, May 8, Civil.ge) – Supporters of former Parliamentary Chairman Zurab Zhvania will participate in the local self-governance elections scheduled for June 2 as the members of the Christian Conservative party.
Zhvania’s team submitted the list of candidates to the Central Election Commission [CEC] on May 8, 5 minutes before the deadline.
Former Parliamentary chairman had to use other party’s candidates’ list after the district court suspended registration of the Citizens’ Union of Georgia [CUG] party’s organizational council, chaired by Zurab Zhvania.
After the court’s decision Zhvania’s supporters were unable to participate in the elections as the members of the CUG.
The Christian Conservative party is small political union, which was not widely known until now.
Zurab Zhvania stated at the news briefing on May 8, that the party offered its candidates’ list after the district court’s decision.
