Parliamentary Committee Chairman Wants Georgia’s Accession into NATO
(Tbilisi, September 9, 2002 Civil Georgia) – Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Chairman Irakli Batiashvili, member of the New Rights Party said at the news briefing today that the Georgian Parliament should raise the issue of accession of Georgia into NATO immediately.
He said that Georgian authorities only talk about the possible membership of Georgian in NATO. “It is high time to take measures to this direction,” he added.
Irakli Batiashvili said that it would be better if the Parliament adopts the resolution concerning the issue before November 21 when the NATO summit starts in Prague.
