Parliament’s Security Committee Chairman Briefed Diplomats on Failed Mutiny
(Tbilisi. April 4, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Irakli Batiashvili met with the foreign military attach?s accredited in Georgia and informed them regarding the failed mutiny of the former servicemen of National Guard.
Up to 20 veterans of the National Guard seized the military base in Tbilisi on March 23-24. 15 of them are sentenced for three-month pre-trial detention.
Irakli Batiashvili supposed at the meeting with the foreign diplomats that the mutiny was organized abroad referring to Russia that caused protest of the Russian military attach?.
He urged the Georgian MP to refrain from “the ungrounded accusations.”
