Burjanadze Accuses Authorities of Mass Ballot Fraud, Calls for Boycotting CEC’s Results

Nino Burjanadze, Parliamentary Chairperson and leader of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc, accused the authorities of mass ballot fraud and called the opposition parties to boycott election results announced by the Central Election Commission.

“We have come here to protect the votes of our population. We hoped the elections would have changed the government and the situation [in te country], however this did not happen. The authorities deprived 2/3 of the population of their constitutional right to vote. Therefore, we should protect the votes and the rights of our population,” Nino Burjanadze said at the meeting with the leaders of other opposition parties on November 4.

She said the opposition political parties do not aim at destabilizing the situation in the country, as claimed by the authorities, adding “we simply want to protect our constitutional right.”

Nino Burjanadze is confident that the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc gained 15% of votes throughout Georgia, while under the results of the Central Election Commission (CEC), this figure is around 8,5%.

On November 3 leader of National Movement opposition alliance Mikheil Saakashvili called on other opposition leaders to meet on November 4 and discuss joint measures to prevent the authorities from manipulating the November 2 parliamentary election results.
