Georgia’s Ambassador in Russia May Chair Supreme Court

President Saakashvili said on June 14 that he wants the Georgian Ambassador to Russia, Kote Kemularia, to become the Chairman of the Georgian Supreme Court.

?But the problem is that we can not yet find a person who will replace Mr. Kemularia as Georgia?s Ambassador to Russia. We have very dynamic relations at the moment with Russia,? Mikheil Saakashvili said at a news briefing on Monday.

The Supreme Court?s chairmanship position has been vacant since June 11, when former Chairman Lado Chanturia handed in his resignation.

?The new Chairman of the Supreme Court should continue with reforms in the judicial system and root out wrongdoings, which still take place in the courts,? Saakashvili added.
