Patriarch Welcomes Independence

αƒžαƒαƒ’αƒ αƒ˜αƒαƒ αƒ₯αƒ˜ αƒ™αƒ˜αƒ αƒ˜αƒαƒœ მეორე (1855-1918)

(Ertoba, N110, 31 May 1918) At 1 o’clock in the afternoon on 29 May, Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Georgia Kirion II, accompanied by Bishop David and the clergy, served the Holy Mass at the Sioni Cathedral in Tbilisi, in gratitude to the declaration of Georgia’s independence. After the Mass, the Catholicos, accompanied by the clergy, have visited the palace [seat of government] to congratulate the government on issuing this historic Act.
