Speaker Kobakhidze Meets French Counterpart

Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze is on an official visit to France on January 14-16. Today, he held a meeting with  the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher.

According to the Georgian Parliament, Kobakhidze and Larcher underscored the importance of “dynamic and active” cooperation between the two legislatures.

In his remarks after the meeting, Kobakhidze said he and his French counterpart touched upon the political, economic and cultural dimensions of cooperation, as well as the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions and the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

On his part, the Senate President stressed he hopes Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit will help advance cooperation between the two legislatures and governments.

As part of the visit, Irakli Kobakhidze will also meet with the President of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand, and representatives of Georgian diaspora. He will also deliver a statement at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
